Welcome to my homepage.
My name is Marci Lindemann and I am the assistant principal at Park
Ridge Elementary School in Pompano Beach, Florida. I am a graduate of West
Virginia University, class of '75. I earned my Master's degree in Educational
Leadership at Florida Atlantic University in nearby Boca Raton, Florida.
I am married to an elementary principal, who I met years ago through our
teachers' association when we were both teaching here in Broward County.
When I have free time (HA HA), I love to travel and take photographs. I also like to read. I consider myself fortunate to have traveled throughout Europe, the United States, the Caribbean, some of Asia and into Central and northern South America. One of my favorite trips was a fourteen day excursion to Egypt. I carried three different cameras and have presented my slide show to students from several schools. This past summer we traveled to Alaska, including a week long cruise of the Inside Passage and Glacier Bay. It was COOL!
I love meeting people from all over the world and try to keep in touch with those who I have met in my travels. I am corresponding by E-mail with a friend I met in Budapest a few years ago.
Park Ridge Elementary School is located at 5200 N.E. 9th Avenue in Pompano Beach, Florida. Park Ridge is an "inner city" school with a student population of approximately 800 children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Five. Our School Improvement Goals are to increase student achievement in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. We are a member of the Alliance of Quality Schools; we employ Direct Instruction for Reading, The Write Track for Writing, and other Alliance strategies and techniques.
Our principal is Walter Cooper, our curriculum facilitator is Barbara Larsen. Our guidance counselor is Ruth Bean and our ESE specialist is Deborah Roland. Our staff is fully certified and trained in Direct Instruction as well as being endorsed in ESOL strategies.
I am interested in meeting other administrators who are interested in student achievement and the use of the Internet.
I guess I should mention that I have a rather unusual collection. I love hippopotami and have a collection of more than 500 pieces of hippomemorabilia: little statues, chachkis and other items shaped like hippos. I like collecting children's books featuring hippo characters.
Fort Lauderdale is where I live. It is due south of Pompano Beach, so I have about a ten to fifteen minute drive each way to school. Fort Lauderdale is a mecca for tourists. We have beautiful beaches, lots of entertainment and great shopping. The Broward Center for Performing Arts hosts great shows and professional performances in a grand and beautiful setting on New River.
Search engines are a great way to find useful information on the Web. One of my favorites is Education World.
