Welcome to my homepage.
My name is Mary Martha Embry and I am a teacher at Southside Elementary
in Fernandina Beach, Florida. I teach gifted students in grades K-5.
I teach critical thinking skills, research skills, and time-management/organizational skills using thematic units based primarily on ancient civilizations. I also incorporate the arts into my program.
In addition to teaching the gifted, I am a member of a team that is currently developing a two-acre schoolyard ecocenter which could be utilized by all students in Nassau and surrounding counties through field trips.
I am very interested in meeting with other gifted teachers and those interested in schoolyard ecocenters.

If you are a teacher of the gifted in Florida, you are very much aware of the lack of funding for our program! I would be interested in sharing information about different grants, etc. that would enable the gifted program to function at a higher level resource wise.
