My name is Linda McCants and I am a teacher at Central Elementary in Clewiston, Florida. I teach instructional technology in a classroom setting.
My classroom is a lab where teachers bring their classes and stay with them. I demonstrate lessons using technology and "best practices" that incorporate tested skills. Hopefully, the teachers will use the activities as part of their lessons.
I plan on teaching the following topics: correlation of curriculum and Sunshine State Standards with technology, using the internet, and creating a school web page. I am very interested in meeting other teachers who are interested in these topics.
Clewiston is located 60 miles west of West Palm Beach and 90 miles north of Miami. The city is on the south side of Lake Okeechobee. It is a rural community of approximately 7000 people. Sugar and citrus are the main products. Fishing on beautiful Lake Okeechobee is a great way to spent your leisure time.
Central Elementary School has grades K - 5 and three ESE classes. There are about 500 students with 75% on free or reduced lunch. This makes us a Chapter 1 school. We are currently in the process of setting up a mini-farm and orange grove on the school property.
Search engines are a great way to find useful information of the Web. One of my favorites is Education World.
