Welcome to my homepage.
My name is Daniel Ponkey and I am a teacher at Hibiscus Elementary. I teach fourth grade. I am originally from Chicago. After attending Barry University,in Miami Shores, I decided that South Florida would be my home and that teaching would be my life.
I plan on teaching the following topics: human growth and development, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and social skills to name a few. I am very interested in meeting with other teachers who are interested in these topics. I feel that with the obstacles children have to go through today, we really need to prepare them and teach them how to live and communicate with each other. Without the skill of communication, our children can not survive, no matter their intelligence level!
Search engines are a great way to find useful information on the Web. One of my favorites is Education World.

It is very hot and humid in Miami. The temperature often reaches 98°. The area in which I live in is walking distance to the Atlantic Ocean. The great thing about South Florida is that you are almost always a short drive away from the water! Although most complain about the heat in the summer, you will never hear anyone complaining about the warmth in the winter! I surely don't miss the cold!
Some of my hobbies include playing sports, especially basketball and football. I also enjoy working out and running. What I can't leave out though, is one of my most favorite pastimes of all....EATING!!! I can basically eat anything......as long as it is in large amounts. My favorites are Italian, Chinese and Latin food.
