Welcome to my homepage.
My name is Christopher Kohnke and I am a teacher at Colbert Elementary Magnet School. I teach Science to Grades 3,4,and 5. I like Florida but I miss my hometown of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Hello to all my friends and family up north. My hobbies include softball, swimming, rollerblading, and breaking bones. The local hospital knows me well. I love Italian food, Chinese food, and anything from McDonald's.
I specialize in geography, earth sciences, aeronautics, sociology, and science applications in sports. I am the school coordinator for our engineering group SECME. SECME stands for Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering, and we teach children basic engineering principles. I am very interested in meeting with other teachers who are interested in these topics. Colbert Elementary placed 2nd at the Broward County SECME Olympiad and 1st at the South Florida SECME Regionals.
It is very hot in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The temperature often reaches 98°. It is usually sunny and we do not see many cloudy days. We do not see snow because it is too warm here. I only see snow when I go home to visit my parents, Hi Mom, Hi Dad! There is alot to do in South Florida. I like going to the beach and snorkeling. I like to watch the Miami Fusion, Florida Panthers, and the Miami Heat. Best of all is that I can walk around in shorts 12 months a year.
Search engines are a great way to find useful information on the Web. One of my favorites is Education World.
