Welcome to my Homepage.
My name is Betty Buchman and I am the Technology Specialist at Jack D. Gordon Elementary school. Currently, I teach second, third, fourth, and fifth grade students. Jack Gordon is located West of Metro Zoo in the Country Walk development. We are an Enviromental/Technology themed school with over 1,600 students in grades Pre-K-5th.
At the age of two, my family relocated to Miami and I attended the following Dade County Public schools:
Ludlum Elementary Miami Palmetto Jr. High Miami Palmetto Senior High
After graduation I attended Miami Dade Community College and received my AA degree. In 1974, I graduated from the University of Florida with a BA degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a minor in Social Studies. I hold Masters Degrees in Parenting Education and Computer Education. I have enjoyed teaching kindergarten, second, and third grades in Jacksonville, Gainesville, Plant City, and West Virginia. In my spare time, I have also worked as an orthodontic assistant.
Now, I stay busy with two very active teenagers. Ryan is 15 and attends Miami Killian Senior High and Leslie is 13 and attends Arvida Middle School.
I live about 15 miles southwest of downtown Miami in the suburb of Kendall. Traffic in this area is a nightmare! If you have an 8:30 a.m. training class at the Museum of Science or a meeting at the School Board Building, plan on leaving NO later than 7:00 a.m. I must admit, the weather here is wonderful, usually in the mid 80's.
I teach the following topics in my Multi-Media Learning Center: Basic computer skills according to the Technology CBC curriculum, HyperStudio, Kid Works 2, Kid Pix Slide Show, The Writing Center, and Claris Works 4.0 to name a few. I am very interested in meeting other teachers with great Multi-Media ideas. Check out Jack Gordon's Award Winning Centennial Project.
