Ortmayer's Homepage
My name is Bill Ortmayer. I am a teacher at The Flagler-Palm Coast High School: "Florida's Proudest Campus!. Our school is located about 25 miles north of Daytona Beach ["the world's most famous beach" as the locals like to say] and 60 miles south of Jacksonville. I teach high school science.
"FLORIDA'S
PROUDEST CAMPUS"
I have taught the following subjects: general science, physical science, biology, marine biology, and physics. I am very interested in meeting other teachers who are interested in these topics. IN PARTICULAR, I would like to exchange ideas for quick simple hands-on activities plus the use of a ULI for computer data collection and graphing.

It is still quite warm during our fall term with the mid-day temperatures in the low to mid 80°'s. Mid-year we need heat during the morning commute, but by mid-day we will be in the middle 70°'s. January and February are the coolest months where we need a light jacket in the mornings and evenings...but NO SNOW! [my philosophy is that I would rather go to "it" than "it" come to me] The end of February begins our warm up.

Search engines are a great way to find useful information on the web. One of my favorites is the Education World Site.

I am also a certified flight instructor with instructor ratings in single-engine airplanes, multi-engine airplanes, instruments, and gyroplane. As luck would have it, the airport is right across the street from the high school. After school I conduct flying lessons from 3pm until dark and all day on weekends.
Everyone knows what an airplane is, but most do not know what a gyroplane is. It is a rotorcraft with a pusher propeller and a free spinning rotor blade. Forward thrust moves the aircraft forward and the incoming air spins the rotor.
