What to do

Review basic multiplication facts. Using the overhead projector, guide students through examples using mental math to find products with multiples of 10, 100 and 1,000. As part of a learning center activity, students complete the following: Two decks of cards are sitting on the table. One deck consists of single digit numbers. The other deck consists of numbers that are multiples of 10, 100 or 1,000. The student takes one card from each deck and uses the mental math strategies learned in the preceding lesson to find the products. The student records their problems and answers. Teacher verifies accuracy.
