What to do
The teacher makes a 4x4 grid on the floor using masking tape. Inside each square of the grid the teacher creates (using tape) and places the digits 0-9 and decimals. This grid of digits and decimals serves as the life-sized gameboard for Decimal Twister. The teacher instructs the students to find a partner for this activity. The teacher selects a pair to come up to the front board where they are given a multiplication decimal problem. They are to complete the problem together at the board while the rest of the pairs work on the same problem at their seats. When the correct product has been found, the Twister Challenge begins. The pair who completed the problem at the board now must go to the Twister board where they are to place their hands, feet, head, elbow, etc. (the number of parts of the body will vary depending on the number of digits in the product) into the correct square on the grid. If the pair is able to complete this without falling (just like in Twister), the pair stays in the competition and will have chance later to try again. Teacher rotates through all of the pairs of students. All students are responsible for turning in their copy of he problems that they did at their seats.
Additional Information
This game can be played as an addition or subtraction game, with or without decimals.
