What to do
Motivation: read When Dinosaurs ruled the Earth several times over 2-3 days. presentation: 1. Present poem on overhead and read to class. 2. Have class read chorally. 3. Discuss the size of a dinosaur. Compare it to other objects of similar size (bus, truck, tall building etc.) 4. Play song "Let's Go on a Dinosaur Hunt" and take class on a dinosaur hunt in the room. 5. Divide class into groups if you don't have cooperative groups in place. Explain directions before leaving. 5. Each group will get a book about dinosaurs and assign or have them select one to research. They will have 10 minutes to find the weight, length and height of their dinosaur. 6. Each group will measure and draw a line with chalk that represents the length of their dinosaur. 7. Each group will present their findings to the class.They should give the weight, length, height, and any other interesting facts they read.

I used this near the end of a dinosaur unit with my full time 4th and 5th grade SLD students.
