MA.B.4.1.2
Materials
4 paper plates black marker cotton string children (act as arms on the clock)
What to do
1. Pick a large area in the room free of furniture. 2. Take cotton string and make a large circle on the floor (this represents the outside of the clock) 3. Take the four paper plates and label them with the numbers from a clock. To start out, only label 12, 3, 6,9 (hours on the clock). Put these numbers on the four paper plates. 4. Lay the plates around the string at their appropriate spot on the clock. 5. Students will get a chance to act as the arms on the clock. They lay down in the middle of the circle and move around to make the time the teacher says. The arms represent the hour hand and the legs represent the minute hand. 6. As, the students advance with telling time, they can label the clock by 5's.
