Add a Web SiteSunshine State Standard
SC.G.1.2.1
Materials
1. A computer connected to the internet. 2. paper/pencil 3. PowerPoint/ or HyperStudio or some other Multimedia Presentation Program
What to do
Have kids visit the following Web Site: http://www.5tigers.org/index.html The teacher should demo the site and the way to navigate the menu, so that all groups understand how to move around the web site. Then divide the class into groups of 3-5 and allow them to work their way through the Interactive Adventures that are posted each month. The web site contains all the research data, graphics, and information needed by the kids to complete these activities. These "adventures" are done with the kids recording their data and information, in a cooperative learning group. Then after completing the adventure, each group can share their strategies as to how they interacted with the story. After participating in several "adventures", the kids can then produce their own reports, written (old-fashion way) or in multimedia format using Powerpoint, or HyperStudio as the site provides research data, sound files, and photos that can be downloaded.
