Research and a HyperStudio Presentation

Materials

Macintosh or PC computer with multimedia capabilities and CD-ROM player HyperStudio software from Roger Wagner Internet access Encarta 96 or 97 Groliers Encyclopedia on CD U.S. Atlas CD ...other any other varied reference CD's 3" x 5" notecards paper and pencil.

What to do

Students will work in pairs. The teacher needs to provide instruction to the students on how to conduct research on the internet, how to use search engines, and how to narrow down the information on Florida to one topic that the students would like to research in depth. Students will use the internet to do research on a specific topic on Florida Students will use various reference CD's to research their topic Students will use the U.S. Atlas to look up information on Florida Students will take notes on the research they have found pertaining to their topic on 3" x 5" cards Teachers need to instruct their students on how to design and create HyperStudio presentations using buttons, voice recordings, text, graphics, and sound effects. Students will design their title and author pages Students will create the body of their presentation (students should write down a limited amount of text) Students will create an evaluation with at least three questions. If a student misses a question, links should be created back to the card that contains the information on the question. Students can print out their presentation in either black and white or color Students give their presentation to the entire class
