Materials

Pattern blocks, sentence strips,pencils,crayons,tape.

What to do

Distribute pattern blocks,and sentence strips. The children are to identify the geometric shapes they will use in a pattern they will create. The children are to trace the pattern blocks on the sentence strip and color each shape the same color as the actual pattern block used. The sentence strip is then taped to form a crown. The child is then asked to name the shapes on his crown and describe the pattern. The students can then take turns describing the patterns and shapes on the crowns of their classmates.
