Wooden toothpicks Mini marshmellows
What to do
1. Discuss the characteristics of the basic shapes such as square, rectangle, triangle 2. Pass out 15 to 20 toothpicks and a handful of marshmellows to each student. 3. Have students create 2 and 3 dimensional figures of these shapes using toothpicks for the sides and marshmellows at the corners to hold the sticks together. 4. Have the students decribe the figures using appropriate vocabulary such as 4 sided figure with equal sides and 4 corners for a 2 dimensional square or 6 equal sides and 8 corners for a cube
