Materials

Standard deck of cards. Be sure to remove Jokers!

What to do

Step 1
Write the following on the chalkboard/whiteboard:
Aces = Automatic Win
Kings = 12
Queens = 11
Jacks = 10
Numbers 2 - 10 = Actual face value

Step 2
Instruct students to get in groups of two. Remind them that the group that sits down on the floor most quietly will get the first deck of cards. EACH GROUP GETS ONE DECK OF CARDS!

Step 3
The student who recieved the cards from the teacher is the dealer. Each dealer thereafter will be the winner of the previous deck.

Step 4
The dealer passes out the entire deck starting with his/her partner.

Step 5
Both students place one of their cards, face up, on the floor in between themselves.

Step 6
The student who first calls out the answer to the "multiplication problem" correctly is the WINNER!
Ex. King + Queen would be 12 x 11 = 132
Continue until entire deck is all consumed. The person with the most cards in his/her pile won the battle.
