What to do
After EACH completed mathbook chapter, the class participates in a math "Jeopardy" game for review before the chapter test. Then at the end of the semester, and end the school year, a large, inclusive game takes place to refresh their memories.
1. Gather students in groups, assign a spokesperson.
2. All students have their book open to the chapter review.
3. The teacher assigns the problem, and all students try the problem. The group that is there turn answers the question.
4. If they are correct, they get 100 points. If they are not correct, the next group answers for 50, the next for 25, the next for 10.
5. Points are added at the end for the winner.
Additional Information
Be sure that all students are participating and that groups are collaborating on the answers before the spokesperson answers. Add a "gameshow" feel by being animated and using "the voice" of a gameshow host. All math strands and benchmarks can be addressed with this activity.
