Salt Water Study

Materials

Scale, Salt Water in a cup, Fresh Water in a cup, Blue and Red food coloring

What to do

1.Discuss with students the differences between salt and fresh water. 2. Ask the students to guess which they think would be heavier. 3. Put salt and fresh water in 2 cups. Color the salt water red and the fresh water blue with the food coloring. 4. Put the water on opposite ends of the scale. 5. Discuss and have the students record the results. After the activity be sure to discuss why the salt water was heavier!
