What to do
Objective: Students will diagram and label the endocrine system. Student knowledge of the location of the glands will be evaluated on a future quiz or test.
1. Distribute drawing paper and human body patterns. Students trace the outline of the body onto the paper, and pass the pattern on to another student.
2. Using the overhead transparency as a guide, students draw and label each of the endocrine glands onto the appropriate portion of the body.
3. Students color their diagram using appropriate colors.
4. Demonstrate how to study using the diagram by covering up the gland labels with small slips of paper. If the student can name the matching gland (and possibly spell it) then the gland name can remain uncovered. If the student cannot name the gland, it needs to be recovered, and the student can try again until they achieve mastery.
Additional Information
Endocrine system information and diagram were found in "Systems of the Human Body" unit by Milliken Publishing Company.
